With less than 100 days to go until the start of the 13th presidential election, the results of the speculation will be announced and the presidential candidates will officially announce their presence.
So far, seven people with different backgrounds and orientations have officially entered the election campaign and will have to wait until their approval by the Guardian Council.
Three commanders
Among the candidates who have officially announced their presence, three are the most prominent; Brigadier General “Hossein Dehghan”, Brigadier General Saeed Mohammad and Major General Mohsen Rezaei. Hussein Dehghan, a former defense minister and military adviser to the commander-in-chief, was one of the first to enter the 13th election campaign; It is clear from his position that he does not intend to form a coalition or withdraw in favor of another person. He wrote on his personal Twitter page: I am not affiliated with any political current, I will not form an alliance with anyone and I will not step aside in favor of anyone.
Dehghan also said in response to those who consider him a purely military person: “I am not just a military person, I am a university student and I have taught in civilian centers and I have been a consultant on many social and foreign policy issues.”
Another general who resigned from commanding the Khatam al-Anbia construction camp to formalize his possible presence in the 13th presidential election and put an end to speculation was Sardar Saeed Mohammad; “I have a difficult path ahead, but I will move forward firmly,” he said in a recent video, which he still does not know which political current he represents. “He has now been appointed advisor to the commander-in-chief of the Revolutionary Guards.”
A man for all seasons
The fixed face of the ninth, tenth and eleventh elections has also implicitly announced its readiness to run in the thirteenth elections. During this short period, he traveled to the provinces of Fars, Khorasan Razavi and Markazi. He says it is too early to talk about his presence, but at the same time does not deny the candidacy. The former head of the Radio and Television and a member of the Supreme Council of Cyberspace, who considers himself a “player on the bench”, is another figure who has expressed a desire to run in the 13th presidential election; Ezatullah Zarghami was the first to speak about the possibility of being elected in the 1400 presidential election. In response to a question about his candidacy in the presidential election, he said: “I am a soldier of the regime and if they say I will take over the presidency of the Radio and Television of the Islamic Republic of Iran, I will volunteer in the 1400 elections if I feel obliged.”
Elsewhere, Zarghami used a football expression to describe himself as an actor or a player on the bench who, if necessary, would one day go into the field and play. Ali Motahari, a former member of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, is another figure who has announced his candidacy to become a pastor; He entered the election campaign when he was disqualified by the Guardian Council in the 11th parliamentary elections and refused to enter the Baharestan building; Motahhari believes that there is no reason to disqualify him for the 1400 presidential election. In response to the question of which current he entered the election arena on, he said: “I entered independently and I consider myself correct.”
An economist in the field of politics
Another figure who announced his intention to run for president was an economist; Hassan Sobhani, a former member of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, wrote on his personal Twitter page announcing his candidacy for the election: Prolonged legislative and executive experience can stop the growth of destruction in the economy I announce my intention to run in the 1400 presidential election.
It is worth mentioning that he had already run in the 11th and 12th elections, but he could not pass the Guardian Council filter.
Reformist cleric
The name “Mohsen Rahami” should be added to the continuation of this list; A reformist cleric who has announced his intention to run in the 1400 elections. He represented the first and second terms of the Islamic Consultative Assembly and was a member of the Reformist Policy Council. Regarding his participation in the elections, Rahami said: “In my presence, things have started a long time ago and regular meetings have been held, and if space is provided, I will run as a single candidate.” Of course, Rahami has not received any official support from the reformist parties so far.

Ayatollah Seyyed Ibrahim Ra’isi, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Mohammad Javad Zarif, Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi, Seyyed Hassan Khomeini and Saeed Jalili are also figures who are hotly debated in political circles over whether or not to run in the election marathon.
