Most of you have heard at least once about the BTS band group. They are the best well-known Korean pop boy band which is even popular globally. They have lots of fans all around the world, and they call themselves ARMYS. BTS has many famous songs which are popular for their ARMY, but there is a song that made them super famous.

Two years ago, on 21 August 2020, a song by BTS was released, and maybe nobody doesn’t even imagine that there would be huge milestones with this song for BTS and Korean K-pop music. The song is called Dynamite and directly affected this group’s successes. They experienced most of their first with this song.

Dynamite was the first Korean song by a Korean act that received a Grammy Nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards. The No 1 Korean song on Billboard’s Hot 100 also stayed at the top for three weeks. In addition, Dynamite had a record of 101.1 million YouTube views in 24 hours, which is fantastic. Another record is the first Korean song that surpassed 1 billion streams on Spotify. And another record is making now with 384K tweets #2YearswithDynamite.
ARMYS is also trying to repurchase Dynamite today, and maybe they can hit another record, let’s wait and see if they can achieve it or not.
But why does Dynamite have much popularity? This song was released during the COVID-19 pandemic when most people were depressed in quarantine. If you are a fan of K-pop, you know that in most songs, we can hear English words, but Dynamite is entirely in English lyrics, making it more tangible for people worldwide. Besides, the meaning of the song is also enjoyable. It talks about little things that make us happy and are valuable in life, but maybe we don’t notice them.

Dynamite wrote by David Stewart and Jessica Agombar. Dynamite is among a few songs that band members did not contribute. The writers said in an interview that they realized BTS was searching to find a piece in English, and they wrote an energetic and hopeful song.
“It needs to be explosive” — and explosive then became “Dynamite.” Any word like that… I’m always thinking of fireworks, or “Fireworks,” because I’m a massive Katy Perry fan. I just wanted anything high-energy. It wasn’t a particular lyric, but a bundle of ideas: explosive, fireworks, Dynamite, party, fun, energetic, worldwide takeover.”
