Brief biography of Hafez Shirazi
Khawaja Shams al-Din Muhammad ibn Baha’uddin, nicknamed Hafiz, lived in the eighth century AH. The exact date of his birth is 727 AH. However, this history also has its ifs and buts.
Hafez has composed most of his poems in the form of lyric poems. He is considered one of the most influential poets in the history of Iran who has greatly influenced the poets after him.
His fame became so widespread that in the 18th and 19th centuries, most of his lyric poems were translated and popularized in various foreign languages.
Hafez commemoration is held on October 11 every year in his tomb in Shiraz. Many Iranian and foreign lovers, lovers and researchers from different countries of the world are present in it and in addition to various ceremonies, they try to get Hafiz’s fortune to meditate on it. In the solar calendar, this day is named after Hafez.
Divination to the court of Hafez
Divination to Hafez’s Divan is one of the most popular works in Iranian culture after Hafez’s death.
The story of Hafez’s divination goes back to the time of his burial and the refusal of people to pray over his body.
At that time, according to the fatwa of the Mufti of Shiraz, people took to the streets and prevented the burial of Hafez’s body in the city’s prayer hall.
The reason for this is his drunkenness and irreligion. The scholars of the city opposed this fatwa, and in the end, at the suggestion of one of the people, it was decided to recite it to his court.
He gave the book to a child and this poem appeared:
Rendan’s fault is not a pure ascetic nature
That the sins of others will not be written on you
If I am good and if you are bad, go and be yourself
Whoever killed the deer will eventually die
Everyone wants help, whether conscious or drunk
“Everywhere is the house of love, whether it is a mosque or a mosque.”
People are amazed to hear this poem and finally his body will be buried.

I want a secret
You are the discoverer of every fortune teller
I swear to your plant branch
I swear by the Qur’an in your heart

Because it is very difficult to interpret Hafiz’s sonnets, they often use websites to do so in order to get an accurate and comprehensive interpretation of that sonnet.
Fortune telling in Yalda
One of the old customs among Iranians is to take the fortune of Hafez on the night of Yalda. In this way, one of the elders of the family, who has a special skill in interpreting the sonnets, divinates the intentions of the family members and interprets the sonnet for others.
The people of Iran believe that Hafez’s divan, because this poet was the memorizer of the whole Qur’an, is based on divine secrets and can announce their future.
Hafiz, as a mediator in this holy night, intercedes with their Lord to achieve their desires and wishes.
Terms of fortune telling
The collective belief of Iranians is that one should have a pure heart to get the fortune of Hafiz.
In order to reach the right result, you must make intentions with precision and sincerity of heart, and with heartfelt conviction, ask Hafiz to guide you.
To do this, first close your eyes and focus. Then recite Surah Hamad and if you are not a Muslim, you can say this sentence without reciting Surah Hamad:
O Hafez Shirazi! You are the Muharram of every secret! I swear by God and by the branch of your plant that you will reveal to me whatever you see fit and expedient and fulfill my wish.
